Iberia and Iberia Express sign indefinite labor pact with SEPLA
Iberia and Iberia Express have signed an indefinite labor agreement with the Spanish Pilots' Union (SEPLA) to establish a new operational and labor framework. The agreement, ratified by the crews of both airlines, aims to provide long-term social and operational stability while enhancing competitiveness for short- and medium-haul routes centered at Madrid-Barajas.
As part of the group’s ‘Flight Plan 2030’, the pact includes the addition of eight aircraft to the fleet between 2028 and 2030. This expansion is expected to create 240 direct jobs, consisting of 80 new pilots and 160 cabin crew members. Additionally, the agreement facilitates 105 promotions to captain, with 69 at Iberia and 36 at Iberia Express.
The indefinite nature of the agreement is intended to ensure social peace and a predictable regulatory environment, which is a key requirement from parent company International Airlines Group (IAG) for continued investment in the Madrid hub.
