Iberia announces 6 billion euro expansion and centennial roadmap

Iberia has launched its roadmap for its upcoming centennial in 2027, coinciding with a major expansion phase under its ‘Plan de Vuelo 2030’. The airline has committed to a 6 billion euro investment, with approximately 70% of funds dedicated to acquiring and renewing its fleet. The company has already increased its long-haul fleet from 43 aircraft at the start of 2025 to 51, with plans to reach 59 in the near term and a long-term goal of 70 aircraft.

To commemorate its 100 years, Iberia will implement a series of cultural and institutional activities across Spain and Latin America, including new ‘Espacio Iberia’ locations in Buenos Aires, Bogotá, Mexico City, and São Paulo. The centennial program includes an air show at Cuatro Vientos, the creation of the Iberia Foundation, and a new gastronomic proposal developed with the Real Academia de Gastronomía.

Passenger experience improvements are also a priority, featuring renovated long-haul cabins and the deployment of high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi across the fleet. Additionally, the airline noted strong growth in key markets, such as Brazil, which has seen increased tourism to Madrid following the opening of new Iberia routes to Recife and Fortaleza.
