Ibero-American cinema attendance and revenue decline in 2025
Cinema attendance in Ibero-America declined by 6.98% in 2025, with total spectators dropping to 584.8 million from 628.7 million in 2024. This decrease in audience led to an 8.06% drop in box office revenue, falling from $2,857 million to $2,626 million.
According to the Ibero-American Audiovisual Panorama report, released by EGEDA and FIPCA, the industry is experiencing a deceleration following the post-pandemic recovery seen through 2023. Despite the decline in attendance and revenue, the number of cinema screens grew slightly by 0.67% to 20,712. Additionally, the volume of film releases increased to 7,962 titles, which was 753 more than in 2024. Local productions accounted for 19% of these releases.
U.S. cinema continues to dominate the market, representing 86% of total spectators between 2023 and 2025. In contrast, Ibero-American cinema held a 6.2% share of spectators during that period. The most successful film in the region in 2025 was the American animated production ‘Lilo and Stitch’.
