Ibero-American prosecutors meet in Peru to combat transnational crime
Prosecutors and attorneys general from 22 countries gathered in Cusco, Peru, for the XXXIII Ordinary General Assembly of the Ibero-American Association of Public Prosecutor's Offices (AIAMP). The assembly aims to strengthen international judicial cooperation to combat transnational crime, including illegal mining, human trafficking, drug trafficking, money laundering, corruption, cybercrime, and arms trafficking.
During the opening, Peru's Attorney General, Tomás Aladino Gálvez Villegas, emphasized the need to target the economic power supporting organized crime. Peru has proposed several initiatives, including an Ibero-American Network of Specialized Prosecutors for Asset Recovery, an Ibero-American Early Cooperation Protocol, and a permanent training program for financial investigations.
The assembly also saw participation from various international delegations, including representatives from Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Albania, to facilitate the exchange of experiences and information regarding cross-border legal matters.
