IBF orders Lindolfo Delgado and Arthur Biyarslanov to resume title negotiations
The International Boxing Federation (IBF) has ordered Lindolfo Delgado and Arthur Biyarslanov to restart negotiations for the vacant junior welterweight championship. The sanctioning body has set a deadline of November 23 for the two undefeated contenders to reach an agreement.
The order follows the cancellation of their scheduled bout on the Canelo Alvarez versus Christian Mbilli undercard in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. While Biyarslanov traveled to the event as planned, Delgado did not travel to the location. Reports indicate that Delgado’s trainer, Robert Garcia, cited concerns regarding regional missile threats, a grueling travel schedule, and insufficient time to manage jet lag and weight cutting.
The two fighters are competing for the 140-pound title vacated by Richardson Hitchins. The new IBF instruction focuses on renewing negotiations rather than mandating a specific fight date or venue.
