IBGE extends deadline to hire 8,258 staff for 2026 Census

The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) announced that the registration period for its simplified selection process closes on Thursday at 14:00 (Brasília time). The draw will fill 8,258 temporary positions to support the 12th Agricultural, Forestry and Aquaculture Census planned for 2026. The vacancies are split among five roles – administrative census agents, IT census agents, regional operational agents, regional census agents and census supervisors – and require only a completed high school education. Salaries range from R$ 2,128 to R$ 4,008, plus benefits such as food, transport and preschool allowances. Candidates may apply for reserved quotas for people with disabilities, Black, Indigenous and quilombola applicants, and can request fee exemption if they are registered in the CadÚnico or are bone‑marrow donors. The written exam of 60 multiple‑choice questions will be held on 27 September in all 27 federal units, with results announced in early November and final selection in December. Applications must be submitted through the Institute of Training and Qualification (IBFC) website, and the registration fee is R$ 53 unless an exemption is granted.
