Ibirapuã and Aparecida de Goiânia expand eye care for residents

On June 30, the municipal health department in Ibirapuã, Bahia, provided ophthalmology consultations for 52 patients of all ages, allowing them to receive care locally instead of travelling to Teixeira de Freitas. The appointments identified needs such as cataract surgery and glaucoma monitoring, and a patient praised the service, saying the ophthalmologist “treated us very well”.

In the same day, Mayor Leandro Vilela of Aparecida de Goiânia, together with state officials, distributed 971 free glasses under the state‑run “Olhar para Todos” program. Beneficiaries also received complimentary eye exams, and the program has already supplied 41,000 glasses to vulnerable residents across Goiás. The mayor highlighted that the glasses improve quality of life for the community.
