Ibiza Airport: Aena unveils terminal remodeling plan

Aena has presented a major remodeling project for Ibiza Airport to the Consell de Ibiza and social agents. The plan, scheduled for execution starting in 2030, aims to modernize the terminal to comply with European security and border control regulations without increasing the total number of flights.

Key upgrades include the installation of advanced automated security systems, the construction of a new pier dedicated to non-Schengen flights with centralized passport control, and the expansion of the boarding lounge to 32 gates. The project also intends to increase the use of boarding bridges from 25% to 75% during peak seasons to improve passenger experience.

Separately, flight data for Saturday, August 22, shows Ibiza Airport will operate 429 flights, a slight decrease from the 440 flights recorded on the same day last year. This follows a general downward trend in flight operations across the Balearic Islands, which saw a 0.76% decrease compared to the previous year.
