Ibiza beaches closed due to sewage spill

The Sant Josep City Council has temporarily closed the beaches of Cala Tarida and Caló d’en Serral in Ibiza due to a sewage spill into the sea. The closure follows warnings from local residents regarding insufficient maintenance of the area's sewage network and capacity issues.

Local residents had previously reported that the sanitation infrastructure was saturated, with images showing waste being discharged directly into the ocean. The municipal government has advised both residents and visitors to avoid swimming in these two coves until further notice. No specific date has been set for the reopening of the beaches, as officials await confirmation that the water quality is safe for bathing.
