Ibiza City Council disputes Port Authority over Botafoc Lighthouse

The Ibiza City Council has raised objections against the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB) regarding the Special Plan for the port of Ibiza. The dispute centers on the Botafoc Lighthouse, a site listed in the Municipal Historical Heritage Catalogue.

Technical reports from the City Council indicate that the APB has repeatedly included uses in the Special Plan that contradict the heritage protection regulations of the lighthouse. Despite warnings issued in December 2023, a revised version of the plan submitted in late 2025 continues to feature these contradictions. The Council is demanding corrections to the documentation before the process can proceed to the Strategic Environmental Declaration.
