Ibiza experts to debate housing crisis and population growth

The Consell de Ibiza is hosting a forum titled ‘Living in Ibiza: housing, population, and territorial limits’ to address the island's escalating residential crisis. The session aims to analyze the relationship between rapid population growth, housing demand, and the preservation of natural resources and infrastructure.

This initiative follows reports from the Consell indicating that the island's population has grown by approximately 83% over the last 25 years. Local reports suggest a housing deficit of roughly 9,000 units linked to this demographic shift. The event will feature contributions from urban planner José María Ezquiaga and Pilar Jiménez from idealista/data, alongside representatives from the real estate sector and environmental groups.
