Ibiza addresses housing, tourism, and territorial sustainability
Ibiza is launching several initiatives to address critical challenges regarding housing, population growth, and tourism management. The Consell de Ibiza will begin a five-session conference cycle titled ‘Ibiza: housing, territory and future’ on October 28. This series aims to analyze the relationship between increasing population, residential needs, and the limitations of an island territory with finite resources and infrastructure.
Simultaneously, the XII Congress of Vacation Tourist Housing is convening to discuss the regulation of tourist accommodations, the control of illegal offerings, and the sector's evolution. Key topics for debate include the role of tourist housing in supporting family tourism, environmental sustainability through circular economy practices, and the impact of artificial intelligence on the accommodation sector.
These discussions involve various institutional representatives, urban planners, and industry professionals, including experts from idealista/data and the Universitat de les Illes Balears, to find a balance between economic activity and territorial preservation.
