Ibiza MICE Summit focuses on human element and economic impact

The sixth edition of the Ibiza MICE Summit took place at the Palacio de Congresos in Santa Eulària, centered on the theme ‘The future is human’. The event brought together approximately 120 attendees and representatives from 15 organizing agencies from Spain, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Hungary.

Organized by the Ibiza Convention Bureau and the Palacio de Congresos, the summit aimed to strengthen Ibiza's positioning as a destination for meetings, incentives, conferences, and events (MICE). Key discussion topics included the integration of new generations into the sector, communication skills, professional well-being, and the necessity of measuring the economic impact that events bring to host territories.

Carmen Ferrer, the Mayor of Santa Eulària, inaugurated the event by highlighting the island's tourism offerings, its connections to major European cities, and the evolution of its infrastructure. She emphasized the importance of the human component in an industry increasingly influenced by technological advances and artificial intelligence.

A significant portion of the summit addressed generational shifts. Albert García, a commercial strategy and events specialist from MCI, presented ‘New Talent, New Rules’, noting that by 2030, three out of four workers will belong to Generation Z or the millennial generation. This shift requires companies to revise recruitment and management strategies to maintain competitiveness in a sector reliant on team coordination and client service.
