Ibiza police arrest couple for 17,100 euro jewelry theft

Spanish National Police have arrested a Romanian couple in Ibiza following the theft of jewelry valued at 17,100 euros. The incident occurred on August 27 at Joyería Pomar, located in the La Marina area of Ibiza town.

According to investigators, the woman entered the shop while the man and their child remained outside. She reportedly distracted the staff by asking to see items in a lower display case, using the moment to steal gold rings and a pendant from a higher display.

Police identified the suspect through security camera footage and intercepted the woman at the Ibiza port as she attempted to board a ferry to Valencia. Following her arrest, authorities tracked her vehicle to Sant Antoni, where they detained the man. The stolen jewelry was discovered hidden inside the couple's daughter's diaper.
