Ibiza residents protest mass tourism with communal dinner

Approximately 100 residents of Ibiza gathered near the Monument to the Hippies in the Marina area to hold a communal dinner under the slogan ‘Fartes’. The initiative aimed to reclaim public spaces for local residents and protest the effects of mass tourism on the island's daily life.

Participants of various ages shared food and drinks in an area that is heavily frequented by tourists during the summer months. Organizers and attendees stated that reclaiming public space is a method of defending Ibiza and advocating for a habitable island for its permanent population. The event, which gained traction through social media and word-of-mouth, aligns with other protests against overtourism occurring in the Balearic Islands.
