Ibiza speed camera count increases to 43 over ten years

The number of speed cameras on the island of Ibiza has increased from 11 in 2015 to 43 today, according to data from the DGT and collaborative maps. This density represents one camera for every 13 square kilometers across the 572-square-kilometer island.

The significant increase occurred starting in 2024, following authorization from the Consell de Ibiza for fixed cameras in high-conflict areas such as the EI-300, Can Guillemó, and the EI-900. Recent installations include works executed by Indra on the EI-200, EI-700, and EI-800 near the airport.

Authorities have deployed these fixed, section, and municipal cameras in high-traffic corridors and areas with high accident rates. While intended to improve safety following reports of fatal accidents and local complaints, residents in some areas, such as Can Bonet–Can Guillamó, continue to request additional measures like elevated walkways.
