OpenAI expands reach through Axios media and IBM enterprise deals

Major technology players and media organizations are forming strategic partnerships to integrate artificial intelligence into diverse sectors. OpenAI has entered into a three-year agreement with Axios to fund and provide AI tools for 13 local news outlets. In this arrangement, OpenAI gains access to Axios’s journalistic content to train its models, while Axios aims to use automation to reduce costs and sustain local reporting.

In the corporate sector, IBM has announced a significant collaboration with OpenAI to bring models like GPT-5.6 and Codex to enterprise clients. IBM plans to establish a dedicated OpenAI Practice within IBM Consulting, training tens of thousands of consultants to deploy these technologies across industries such as finance, telecommunications, and retail.

Regional developments include the launch of the Gemini Experience Center in Mexico by Tata Consultancy Services and Google Cloud, designed to help businesses implement AI solutions. Meanwhile, in Europe, OpenAI is preparing to introduce advertising to ChatGPT to manage high infrastructure costs, navigating complex regulatory landscapes. Research also indicates that AI adoption is driving a 4% productivity increase in some European firms and influencing economic research into production networks in Chile.
