IBM upgrades digital banking infrastructure with Swift integration

IBM has announced two major upgrades to its digital banking infrastructure designed to help financial institutions, governments, and regulated entities manage digital assets with enterprise-grade security.

First, IBM Digital Asset Haven now supports access to Swift’s blockchain-based shared ledger in beta. This integration includes an ISO 20022 Messaging Adapter, allowing institutions to execute tokenized deposit transactions using standard messaging formats rather than entirely new blockchain workflows. This enables 24/7 digital asset movement while maintaining existing compliance and operational processes. The Swift shared ledger project, designed in collaboration with over 40 financial institutions, currently has 17 institutions conducting tokenized deposit pilots.

Second, IBM is launching a beta version of IBM Digital Asset Haven for on-premises deployment. This allows organizations to manage stablecoins and tokenized deposits entirely within their own data centers using IBM Z and IBM LinuxONE infrastructure, removing reliance on public cloud environments. The on-premises version focuses on high performance, scalability, and hardware-level security through IBM Crypto Express HSM to protect cryptographic keys.
