Ibn-Ismall Abdullah Mason sentenced to prison for marijuana smuggling

Ibn-Ismall Abdullah Mason has been sentenced to five months in prison by the Reykjanes District Court for large-scale drug trafficking. Mason was found guilty of importing 13,440 grams of marijuana into Iceland.

According to the prosecution, Mason arrived at Keflavík Airport as a passenger on a flight from Copenhagen on July 21. The drugs were concealed in his checked luggage, which arrived later that evening. Mason reported the bag and claimed ownership of it.

During the legal proceedings, Mason pleaded guilty and consented to the prosecution's request for the seizure of the narcotics. The court noted that while there was no evidence Mason had a prior criminal record or was the primary organizer of the smuggling operation, his role in transporting the substances for profit was an essential part of the crime. The court determined that the significant quantity of drugs necessitated a custodial sentence.
