Ibovespa rises 0.54% driven by Petrobras gains
The Ibovespa index rose 0.54% to close at 186,503 points, driven largely by significant gains in Petrobras shares. Petrobras' preferred and common shares rose 3.09% and 3.63% respectively, supported by a 2.90% increase in Brent crude oil prices, which reached $108.75 per barrel.
Market participants remained cautious due to upcoming proceedings at the Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) regarding potential investigations into Minister Alexandre de Moraes. The index's performance contrasted with other local assets; while Itaú preferred shares rose 0.76%, Vale shares fell 1.17%, and Santander units saw a decline of 0.99%.
The trading session saw a financial volume of R$ 15.8 billion for the Ibovespa, with total B3 volume reaching R$ 21.5 billion. The local market's movement occurred ahead of scheduled monetary policy decisions in both Brazil and the United States.
