Ibrahim Arief uses AI technology to support Yaqut in corruption case

Ibrahim Arief, also known as Ibam, a defendant in a Chromebook procurement corruption case, has expressed support for former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas in his ongoing legal battle regarding alleged hajj quota corruption.

Ibam claims to have developed a specialized artificial intelligence tool called ‘Perkara AI’ to assist legal teams in analyzing complex cases. The technology is designed to process thousands of pages of documents, evidence, and witness testimonies to identify connections and track fund flows. Ibam is currently utilizing this tool to support Yaqut’s legal defense team.

Ibam has criticized the legal basis of the hajj quota case, describing it as fragile. He noted that while a state loss of Rp622 billion is cited, the allegations regarding funds reaching Yaqut rely on testimony that has reportedly been withdrawn. Ibam’s decision to develop the AI stemmed from his own experiences navigating extensive legal files during his corruption trial.
