Ibrahim Erkan appointed as ABA League sports director

Ibrahim Erkan has officially assumed the role of sports director for the ABA League following a majority vote by the company's members. Erkan, 43, brings over 15 years of experience in international basketball management, competition organization, and event execution.

Prior to this appointment, Erkan served as a member of the EuroLeague Executive Board starting in 2020, where he was responsible for club licensing and competition systems for the EuroLeague, EuroCup, and U18 competitions. His previous experience includes working with the Turkish Basketball Federation from 2017 to 2020, managing international relations, anti-doping controls, and statistics. He also served as a head of delegation at the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

As part of a broader restructuring of the league's sports sector, Miguel Angel Perez has been elected as the new president of the Referee Commission, and Robert Brdar has taken over the position of disciplinary judge.
