Ibrahim Mahama urges Ghanaian entrepreneurship at Dzata Cement anniversary
At the fifth anniversary of Dzata Cement in Tema, founder Ibrahim Mahama called on Ghanaians to overcome their fear of entrepreneurship and invest in locally owned manufacturing. Mahama emphasized the need for indigenous companies to build a resilient industrial base, arguing that Ghana should reduce its reliance on foreign-owned industrial ventures.
During the event, the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) addressed ongoing issues regarding cement dust at the country's ports. GPHA Director of Ports Tebon Zumah noted that current equipment, such as grabs and hoppers, generates significant dust during cargo handling. The authority is exploring new systems and plans to encourage cement manufacturers to adopt methods that eliminate visible dust when vessels are docked at berth.
