Ibrahim Musa Gusau faces praise and criticism over NFF leadership

Ibrahim Musa Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), is set to receive the Football Infrastructure Icon of the Year Award at the Blueprint Newspapers’ Annual Public Lecture and Awards in Abuja. Supporters, including stakeholder Abdulsalam Ibrahim Imam, have praised Gusau for his efforts in developing infrastructure, such as hostels and artificial playing surfaces designed to support national youth teams and reduce costs for the federation.

However, the NFF leadership is also facing significant criticism regarding the performance of Nigeria's national teams. Critics, including Danladi Bako, have called for the NFF board to step down, citing the Super Eagles' failure to qualify for the 2022 and 2026 FIFA World Cups. Additional concerns have been raised regarding the Super Falcons' recent performance in the WAFCON tournament and the accountability of federation spending.
