İbrahim Yumaklı defines food security as a national security issue

Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı stated during a panel organized by the Agricultural Technologies Cluster (TÜME) Foundation that food security is a matter of national security. Speaking at the ‘Agriculture, Youth and Technology, Policy, Education, Investment and Adaptation Panel’, Yumaklı emphasized that agricultural production is indispensable at every stage of human life.

Yumaklı noted that agricultural technologies are strategically important for the country's future, comparing their significance to the defense industry. He highlighted that ensuring food security is a form of national defense, as public anxiety regarding food supplies can lead to significant societal problems.

The Minister also stressed the need for a holistic approach to the production process, from seed to table, and the importance of analyzing agricultural data to inform policy. He noted Turkey's significant agricultural potential, comparing its production capacity to that of the Netherlands.
