Ibrahima Birame Djité transitions from wrestler to PE professor

Ibrahima Birame Djité, known in the wrestling arena as Gorgui-Étudiant, has successfully transitioned from a professional strike wrestler to a career in physical education and sports administration.

Djité’s wrestling career began at Ibou Diallo high school in Sédhiou, where he distinguished himself in local tournaments. He later competed at the university level while studying geography at Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD), reaching the finals of an inter-university tournament in 2011. During his wrestling career, he recorded six victories and three defeats.

A significant turning point occurred when he passed the entrance exam for the National Higher Institute of Popular Education and Sport (Inseps). He has since become a Professor of Physical and Sports Education (EPS) and serves as the Regional Technical Director (DTR) for the Dakar League.
