Bengaluru police arrest man for alleged murder of wife

Bengaluru police have arrested 32-year-old Sagar Chandra Rawat for the alleged murder of his wife, Anusuya, 28. The couple, originally from Odisha, worked at different hotels in the city.

According to investigators, the pair had a dispute regarding financial matters on August 11. Police allege that Rawat strangled Anusuya during the argument and kept her body in their home for three days before wrapping it in a mattress and abandoning it at a vacant site in MS Nagar Agrahara Layout.

The body was discovered on September 2 by sanitation workers cleaning the plot in compliance with government regulations for vacant sites. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, police initially struggled to identify the victim, but a clothing tag from a mall found on the body provided the necessary lead to confirm her identity.

Rawat was apprehended nearly 20 days after the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
