Primavera dos Museus promotes cultural access across Brazil
The 20th edition of Primavera dos Museus, organized by the Instituto Brasileiro de Museus (Ibram), is taking place across Brazil with more than 900 participating institutions. Under the theme “Museus para todas as pessoas” (Museums for all people), the initiative focuses on democratizing access to cultural heritage, promoting inclusion, and fostering a sense of belonging.
Activities are widespread across the country. In Salvador, museums like MAC Bahia and Casa do Carnaval offer workshops and sensory experiences. In Ouro Preto, the Museu do Oratório provides accessibility-focused programming, including Libras workshops. In Manaus, Implurb is presenting the Encontro das Águas park, a Niemeyer project. Other regional highlights include the Museu da Fotografia in Ceará, the Museu do Oratório, and the Instituto Butantan in São Paulo, which features scientific and historical explorations.
In Curitiba, the Museu Ferroviário is hosting historical tours with Libras translation. The event aims to address low museum visitation rates, as research indicates only 16% of the Brazilian population visited a museum in the year preceding 2025. By offering free workshops, guided tours, and educational sessions, the program seeks to bridge the gap between cultural institutions and diverse social groups.
