Ibu Kota Nusantara legislative and judicial districts targeting 2027 completion

Construction of the legislative and judicial districts in Indonesia's new capital, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN), is progressing toward a target completion date in late 2027. The combined contract value for these two sectors is approximately Rp 11.3 trillion, with the legislative area accounting for Rp 8.24 trillion and the judicial area for Rp 3.06 trillion.

In the judicial district, the Supreme Court building has reached 12.5 percent physical progress, while the Constitutional Court and Judicial Commission buildings are at 45.7 percent. The legislative complex will include facilities for the DPR, MPR, and DPD, featuring a plenary session building with a capacity for 2,194 people. Additionally, the DPR building will include a dedicated open-air amphitheater named ‘Plaza Kerakyatan’ designed to accommodate between 500 and 800 demonstrators.

Private investment is also showing momentum, highlighted by a Rp 1.25 trillion apartment project by Chinese investor PT Star Bright International Investment. The project, developed in partnership with Zhongda Jiancheng Engineering Management Group Co., Ltd., involves four towers and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, noted that over 100 apartment units have already been reserved.
