Ibusuki launches registration for 44th Nanohana Marathon starting Aug 1
Participant registration for the 44th Ibusuki Nanohana Marathon opens on August 1, with the race scheduled for January 10, 2027. The marathon, a major citizen event in Kagoshima Prefecture, will follow a scenic loop past Ikeda Lake, Mount Kaimondake, and the fishing port of Yamakawa, offering runners views of millions of blooming rapeseed flowers.
Organisers, in partnership with travel agency JTB, have announced three tour packages: a pre‑race course‑inspection bus, a day‑of‑support tour on race day, and a post‑race sightseeing tour. Runners staying at designated hotels receive a complimentary sand‑bath voucher, a treatment popular with elite athletes such as swimmer Kawachi Yuki. Influencer “Tacti”, who moved to Ibusuki after a previous marathon appearance, will co‑host a pre‑race training event with local running coach Seiya Hayashi.
The event also introduces a team competition for corporate and group entries, with awards for the fastest squads. Organisers aim to attract domestic and overseas participants, boost tourism, and showcase Ibusuki’s hospitality and hot‑spring culture.
