Ica Education Directorate recovers Juan XXIII school premises from Barnard academy
The Regional Directorate of Education of Ica (DREI) has recovered premises at the Juan XXIII school in Ica, which were being occupied by the Barnard pre-university academy. The operation was carried out with police presence on August 25.
Regional Education Director José Luis Huamán stated that the recovery follows a judicial process that concluded in favor of the Ministry of Education. He noted that the previous administrative procedure was “not the most appropriate” and is currently under internal review.
In response, Academia Barnard issued a statement claiming they held a legal three-year agreement to use the facilities. The academy asserted they had invested in the site's sanitation, basic services, and maintenance. They also claimed that because certain conditions of the agreement were not met by the educational institution, they opted to withdraw their furniture and belongings rather than leave them behind as originally intended.
