Peru marked its independence on July 28‑29 with a packed cultural programme. Travel demand rose sharply: ticket prices for flights between Lima and Ayacucho jumped up to S/210 with few seats left, and Lima’s historic centre will be closed to vehicles, with detours announced for the holiday.

Digital commerce surged. Rappi forecasts a 35% increase in order volume compared with the same period in 2025, driven by a 65% jump in pollo a la brasa orders, which normally average 330,000 per month. Restaurants such as Tanta, Isolina and Panchita topped the list of popular choices.

Small‑ and medium‑size enterprises anticipate up to an 8% sales lift, and the Gamarra market projects daily sales of up to S/18 million during the festivities.

In Piura, Chamber of Commerce president Javier Bereche Álvarez urged renewed investment, formal job creation and preparedness for a possible El Niño event.

Outside the country, the Peruvian community in Cáceres, Spain celebrated the holiday, and the soccer club Alianza Lima held a tricampeonato celebration in Connecticut.
