ICBF Director Carolina Restrepo files complaint over threats

Carolina Restrepo Cañavera, director of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF), has filed a formal complaint with the Attorney General's Office following a series of threats and harassment on social media.

The situation escalated after Restrepo participated in a political control debate before the Senate's Seventh Commission regarding the ICBF budget and program reorganization. Following the session, a video of her intervention was circulated by Senator Duvalier Sánchez Arango. Restrepo alleges the video was edited to change the context of her statements.

According to the complaint, the harassment included insults and messages revealing her precise location, such as at the Cali airport, with individuals expressing intentions to approach her personally. Restrepo has provided the full session recording, transcripts, and a chronological reconstruction of the edited video to investigators to determine criminal responsibility and identify the social media profiles involved.
