ICC expands Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy to 10 teams
The second edition of the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy will be held in Ajman, United Arab Emirates, from November 12 to 25. The tournament is expanding from eight to 10 participating teams, marking the first time five ICC Full Member teams will compete alongside five Associate Members.
Teams are divided into two groups of five. Group A includes Ireland, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, Sri Lanka, and the UAE. Group B consists of Bangladesh, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Thailand, and Zimbabwe. The competition format features a group stage followed by a Super Six phase and a final.
According to ICC General Manager of Events and Cricket Operations Gaurav Saxena, the expansion aims to provide more substantial international opportunities and high-performance environments for emerging teams to support the growth of women’s cricket.
