ICC announces 2027 Men’s Cricket World Cup schedule and format

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the full schedule for the 2027 Men’s ODI World Cup, which will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia from October 2 to November 21, 2027. The tournament will feature 14 teams and a new three-stage format: a Super Series in Windhoek to determine the final group stage team, a Group Stage with 12 teams split into two groups, and a Super 7 phase.

Group A includes India, Australia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and a qualifier. Group B consists of New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, England, Bangladesh, and a qualifier. A major highlight is the high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan, scheduled for October 10 at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. India will open their campaign against defending champions Australia in Cape Town on October 7.

The tournament will consist of 57 matches across 12 venues. The top three teams from each group, along with the best fourth-placed team, will advance to the Super 7 phase. The final is set to take place in Johannesburg on November 21, 2027. Additionally, the ICC announced new playing conditions, including a five-run penalty for time-wasting batters and clarified rules regarding run-outs and stumpings.
