ICC sanctions Pakistan bowlers after West Indies Test defeat, dropping team to bottom of WTC standings

Pakistan lost the first Test against West Indies by 90 runs, scoring 120 in the chase of a 211‑run target. In the aftermath, the International Cricket Council (ICC) found bowlers Mohammad Abbas and Khurram Shahzad guilty of Level‑1 offences for aggressive celebrations after taking wickets. Shahzad was fined 15 % of his match fee and both players received demerit points on their disciplinary records.

The disciplinary action and the defeat caused Pakistan to fall to ninth place, the last position, in the 2025‑27 World Test Championship points table, while West Indies moved up to eighth place.
