ICE agents arrest student near San Diego City College

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested a driver, believed to be a San Diego City College student, near the campus on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. near the intersection of 16th and C streets when unmarked vehicles boxed in a black Ford Focus.

During the encounter, a passenger fled the vehicle and was pursued by ICE agents onto the college campus. The pursuit reportedly ended when agents realized they were entering campus grounds. The district confirmed that ICE had no ongoing activity on the premises following the incident.

The San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) issued statements clarifying that the district, its police, and its employees do not participate in or coordinate with ICE enforcement activities, noting that such actions are prohibited under California law. Officials described the intrusion as “disruptive, unwelcome, and in conflict with the SDCCD’s core values.” The college is providing counseling and legal services to those affected and stated that classes remain scheduled as usual.
