ICE arrests reach record high in July during second Trump term
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) recorded 49,571 arrests in July, marking the highest monthly total during the second Trump administration. This figure represents a 15% increase from the 43,021 arrests in June and a 70% increase from February.
Regional data shows significant spikes in activity. In New Jersey, arrests increased by 147.6% between May and July, with over 2,100 arrests in July alone. New York saw a 79.7% increase in arrests between April and July, rising from 754 to 1,355. In Northern California, nearly 900 people were arrested in July.
Reports indicate that more than half of those arrested in July had no prior criminal record or pending criminal charges. Nationally, ICE has reported over 350,000 removals in fiscal year 2026 through mid-July. The surge in enforcement coincides with increased federal resources and the hiring of new deportation agents.
