ICE conducts enforcement operations in Texas amid witness release

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents conducted an enforcement operation in Mustang Ridge, Texas, resulting in several arrests of men and women at a gas station on Highway 183. Witnesses reported seeing ICE agents and State Troopers intercepting vehicles to question occupants regarding their immigration status. The operation also extended to areas near a supermarket and a restaurant, causing concern among local residents and workers.

In a related development concerning a previous incident, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo has been released from the Montgomery Processing Center after 54 days in migratory custody. Salgado Araujo was the final witness to be released following a July 7 shooting in Houston's Magnolia Park, where an ICE agent fatally shot him while he was driving.

Court documents suggest the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) may have provided information to ICE prior to the July 7 operation, though the DPS has denied sharing data related to the individuals involved. Salgado Araujo's release follows the prior release of two other witnesses, Daniel Tirado Pantoja and José Trinidad Rojas Pliego, under federal court orders.
