ICE conducts raids at construction sites in Central Valley
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has intensified operations in California’s Central Valley, conducting raids and detentions at multiple locations. In Fresno and Madera counties, agents visited three Lennar construction sites over a two-day period. At the Fanucchi Ranch and Riverstone developments, workers were detained and transported to the Golden State Annex detention facility in McFarland. At a third site in the Tesoro Viejo development, federal agents left without making arrests after a site supervisor challenged their authority to enter the private property without a signed warrant.
These actions occur amid a broader, aggressive anti-immigration campaign following the start of Donald Trump’s second term. California has seen record numbers of detentions, with ICE recording 4,300 arrests in the state during July alone. Local advocates have responded by distributing ‘Know-Your-Rights’ guides, advising community members that they are not required to open doors without a judicial warrant, may refuse to answer questions regarding immigration status, and have the right to remain silent.
