ICE detainments and observer arrests spark activity in California
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted targeted detainments in Redwood City and East Palo Alto on Thursday morning. According to Faith in Action Bay Area, one individual was arrested at the intersection of Ebener and Poplar in Redwood City, and another was detained outside Cardenas Market in East Palo Alto. These actions represent the first confirmed ICE presence in these specific areas since August.
In a separate incident in Santa Ana, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that no criminal charges will be filed against Madison Crabill and Adilene Tonoco. The two activists were arrested by Santa Ana Police last week following reports from off-duty federal agents who alleged they were being followed. The arrests triggered community protests and criticism from local officials, with activists characterizing the incident as an attempt to intimidate those monitoring ICE activities.
