ICE detains Venezuelan nationals in US custody
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has detained two Venezuelan nationals in separate cases.
In Kentucky, Jeifrank Barreto has been held at the Oldham detention center for seven months. Barreto has requested deportation to Venezuela, citing unbearable conditions and overcrowding. He described the experience as “torture” and alleged that spoiled food was once provided. The Department of Homeland Security responded by stating that meals are supervised by dietitians, though no deportation date has been set.
In Denver, Colorado, ICE arrested Yulianny Ulacio Valderrama. Authorities stated she has a criminal conviction for retail theft. She remains in custody while immigration proceedings continue.
