ICE launches tipline to report commercial driver license fraud

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has launched a new tipline for the public to report suspected commercial driver’s license (CDL) fraud. The initiative is part of a broader crackdown by the Trump administration to identify unqualified drivers, specifically targeting illegal immigrants operating commercial vehicles.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Transportation (DOT) are collaborating to expand efforts to detect fraudulent licenses. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin stated that the crackdown aims to prevent further loss of life caused by unauthorized individuals operating semi-trucks.

Officials cited several fatal incidents as motivation for the new measure, including a crash in July involving a Haitian immigrant in Massachusetts that killed a Pennsylvania State Trooper, and another incident in Indiana that resulted in four deaths.
