ICE reports averaging 100 daily arrests in Houston

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reports that its Houston-based teams are currently averaging approximately 100 arrests of individuals in the country illegally every day.

During recent operations in the Houston area, ICE agents utilized surveillance and body cameras to apprehend targets. One specific operation resulted in the detention of four out of five targets before 11 a.m. Among those detained were individuals with prior criminal records, including charges related to driving while intoxicated and enticing a minor.

Bret Bradford, director of ICE’s Houston Enforcement and Removal Operations field office, stated that while the agency prioritizes the “worst of the worst,” enforcement will not be limited strictly to those with criminal records. Bradford noted that “if you’re in this country illegally, there’s a consequence.” The agency is also defending its enforcement tactics following recent scrutiny regarding fatal shootings and vehicular incidents.
