ICE train disrupted after woman smashes window and pulls emergency brake

A 31-year-old German woman caused significant disruptions on the Hamburg-Berlin ICE line on Wednesday evening after smashing a window with an emergency hammer and pulling the emergency brake. The incident occurred near Hagenow Land, causing the train, carrying approximately 300 passengers, to come to a halt on an open track.

According to the Federal Police, the woman briefly exited the train and entered the track area before returning. She reportedly claimed she needed to get off urgently because she was traveling in the wrong direction, though authorities stated there was no actual emergency situation.

Deutsche Bahn terminated the journey at Hagenow Land due to the damage. The resulting track closure between 20:21 and 21:08 led to three partial cancellations and caused 15 other trains to experience a total of 541 minutes of delay. The woman was detained by police, and an investigation into the property damage is ongoing.
