Iceland Foods to open first UK high street store in Falkland Islands

Iceland Foods is set to open a standalone store in Stanley, Falkland Islands, in early December. This move marks the first time a UK high street retailer has established a presence in the territory.

The expansion is being conducted in partnership with local retailer Kelper Stores, a subsidiary of the Fortuna group. The new outlet will stock Iceland’s own-label frozen products as well as brands such as Cathedral City, MyProtein, and TGI Fridays.

Iceland executive chairman Richard Walker stated that the move is part of the supermarket’s wider international growth plans and expressed pride in “backing Britain” by bringing the retailer to the islands. Local partners noted that the venture aims to provide residents with a wider selection of affordable frozen food and everyday essentials.
