Iceland reports infrastructure progress and regulatory scrutiny of Ásar

Icelandic Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir has highlighted several domestic developments, including the commissioning of the Vaðölduver wind farm to increase grid energy. The government is also focusing on infrastructure projects, such as the preparation for Fljótagöng and discussions regarding the Sundabraut and Hvalfjarðargöng projects.

In the business sector, the Icelandic Competition Authority is reviewing transactions totaling nearly 14 billion ISK by Ásar, the parent company of Síminn. This investigation follows concerns regarding Ásar’s acquisitions of Opnum kerfum and Öryggismiðstöð Íslands, which are held by the same private equity fund. Consequently, shares in the parent company have seen a decline of nearly five percent.
