Icelandair offers stopover options and flight promotions
Icelandair provides stopover programs for travelers flying between Europe and North America. Passengers using standard tickets can stay in Iceland for up to seven nights without additional flight fees. Those booking Flex tickets can extend their stay to up to 21 nights. All transatlantic flights operate through Keflavík International Airport near Reykjavik.
While the airline facilitates the stopover, passengers are responsible for all local costs, including accommodation, excursions, and transfers. In Economy service, only water, coffee, and tea are included, with meals and snacks requiring extra payment. The stopover model has been a part of the airline's strategy since the 1960s.
Additionally, promotional direct flights from Lisbon to Reykjavik have been noted, with prices starting from €227 including a cabin bag for various dates between November and April.
