Icelandic educational institutions mark milestones and progress

Menntaskólinn í Reykjavík is celebrating its 180th anniversary. To mark the occasion, a reception is being held at the school's historic building, known as the Old School, featuring an address by the school rector.

In Hafnarfjörður, construction is progressing on Hamranesskóli, a new 8,800-square-meter facility designed for children aged 12 months to 16 years. Principal Guðbjörg Norðfjörð reported that the building is well underway, with some walls already painted. The project, managed in collaboration with Ístak, is expected to be completed in two phases: the first phase is slated for autumn 2027, with full completion targeted for 2028. The school will include an after-school center and facilities for the Hafnarfjörður Music School.
