Icelandic U17 women's volleyball team competes in NEVZA tournament

The Icelandic U17 women's national volleyball team has traveled to Denmark to compete in the North European Volleyball Zonal Association (NEVZA) tournament. The matches are scheduled to take place in Ikast from Monday through Wednesday.

While Iceland has participated in NEVZA tournaments in recent years, a change in classification earlier this year moved the country into the Small Countries Association (SCA) within the European volleyball structure. However, Iceland accepted an invitation to participate in this year's NEVZA tournament, which does not offer qualifying spots for larger international events.

The team is coached by Atli Fannar Pétursson and Amelía Ýr Sigurðardóttir. Their initial schedule includes matches against Denmark, Sweden, and England.
